Athanasian Creed   Early Christians needed a summary statement of biblical faith to combat two errors regarding the mystery of the Christian faith.  One error denied that God's Son and the Holy Spirit are of one Being or “Godhead” with the Father.  Another error denied that Jesus Christ is both true God and true man.  By 325 AD, Christians agreed this creed represented what the Bible teaches about the nature of God.   Named after the teacher Athanasius, it continues to serve the Christian Church as a standard of the truth for the doctrine of the Trinity and the doctrine of Christ.  We will be using a portion of the Athanasian Creed in our service this morning.

Cookies on the patio   A long-standing tradition at Mt. Olive is to have a time of fellowship after our Sunday services out on the front patio.  We stick around and enjoy each others company with juice and cookies.  Our first summer treats Sunday will be June 6th. Please consider signing up to serve treats or join with another family or 2 and do it together. Sign up sheet is on the back counter in the narthex if you are interested in serving.

Pioneers This Week This Tuesday our Lutheran Pioneer group will have a guest presenter from Delano’s All Season’s Sports store who will speak to the children and parents about bike safety and maintenance. After the presentation, all those attending will take a bike ride together. All children and parents of the congregation are invited to attend this Tuesday at 6:00 pm.  For more information, please speak to our Lutheran Pioneer coordinator, Jeannie Beck.

‘M.A.J. Is Coming! M.A.J. stands for “Music and Jesus”. The “Best part of my summer!” said one Teen MAJ participant.  Others say they love the “inclusiveness and positivity”... the way “you can be yourself”… the “close friendships” that result from the retreat-style weekend... and… how you “grow in your faith” at MAJ.  The Music And Jesus ministry is a one-weekend-long Christian program for youth;  Kids MAJ (June 25-27) is a day camp for youth in grades 2-8, and Teen MAJ (July 8-11) is an overnight retreat for teens in grades 8-13.  During the compact 3 or 4-day rehearsal, the cast learns a Bible-based, Christ-centered 45-minute original show, and the band assembles the music (for Teen).  The weekend ends with a high-energy performance for family and friends.  The retreat also includes team-building activities, faith-deepening devotions and much more.  MAJ is an intense, unique and impacting Christian experience! For more information and to register online, visit www.musicandjesus.org. Deadline for registration is June 1.

Worship For July 4 Weekend Because the streets of Delano will basically be blocked off for the 4th of July parade on the morning of Sunday, July 4, the elders of Mt. Olive have decided to cancel our Sunday morning worship that day and instead hold our service that weekend on Saturday, July 3 at 6:00 pm.  The usual Monday evening service will be held on Monday, July 5 at 6:00 pm.

Fund Appeal Campaign

Screen Shot 2020-02-29 at 2.28.59 PM.png

In November of 2019, we kicked off our Building Fund Appeal with the theme, "Christ's Love Compels Us".

Back in 2005, our old church was crumbling, falling apart, and in disrepair. The members of Mt. Olive voted to build a new church that was connected to our Pre-K through 8th grade school. By God's grace, we have been very blessed with our new church!
